Sarah’s Style Gallery

About Sarah

Sarah is a dancer, actress, and Pilates instructor. She splits her time between teaching classes and working in musical theater. Sarah is playful but grounded, with a calming and easygoing manner.

Sarah’s Style Goals

Sarah wants to look fresh but commanding. She does not want her youthful appearance to convey inexperience, as she is in an authority within her theater company and manages younger dancers. Sarah loves bold color, flowing shapes, and glamorous feminine style elements.

Sarah’s Style needs

Sarah lives a more active lifestyle than most. As such, even common casual items like jeans are off-limits for her. She needs fabrics that stretch, breathe, and move with her as she teaches and dances.

My Styling suggestions

While basic athleisure is considered appropriate these days, it lacks the playfulness and femininity that Sarah loves. Plain tee shirts and solid neutral joggers do not do her grace and softness any justice. Although Sarah is limited in terms of fabric, she can take advantage of shape and color to convey the right image. Soft Summers can sometimes trap themselves into wearing a particularly boring small range of neutrals, but they look their best in a range of smoky jewel tones and medium-dark, soft colors. I advised Sarah to lean into rich jade, muted periwinkle, bewitching violet, and saturated rosy tones along with her subtle neutrals.

For shape, I recommended Sarah look to off-duty ballerina inspiration, with cuddly off-the-shoulder and wrap sweaters, delicate strappy camisoles, and figure-hugging leggings, both skinny and flared. These are more glamorous, expressive versions of sweatsuit sets, and no less comfortable.

Sarah often wears glasses while teaching, which makes for an excellent opportunity to deploy a favorite flattering shade directly by the face. Smoky or soft tortoiseshell effects in either cool browns or colors such as rose, burgundy, teal, and soft navy are ideal.

Because Sarah wears athletic shoes every day, cute sneakers are a non-negotiable. I had her look for shoes that mixed several of her Soft Summer colors, as well as ones with metallic effects. Metallics flow beautifully into her glitzy, glamorous love for theater, and small jewelry is the best way to incorporate that into her daily outfits. Jewelry need not be clunky or uncomfortable, even when worn during athletic activities. Delicate earrings, bracelets, and pendants using a range of smoky and glowing gemstones are a must for Sarah’s wardrobe. Labradorite, moonstone, rose quartz, and abalone shell are all perfect for Soft Summers.
