Korinne’s Style Gallery

About Korinne

Korinne works as a project manager and lives an active, outdoorsy lifestyle. She loves bright, animated colors like the ones found in her Bright Winter palette but historically had difficulties finding rich colors that were not too stark or crisp against her delicate, pale coloring.

Korinne’s Style Goals

Korinne loves the sort of rumpled but classic elegance that calls to mind vintage Americana. She enjoys wearing makeup and jewelry, but they have to feel natural to her, and not “too much.”

Korinne’s Style needs

Korinne wants to look stylish and individual for casual occasions and for the office as she returns to in-person work. Her current living space limits her storage, so she needs versatile pieces that stand up to multiple consecutive wears and mix-and-match with ease.

My Styling suggestions

Korinne’s clean and uncomplicated way of wearing color in clothing was apparent as soon as she showed me her closet. Her intuitions around color were correct—although she didn’t previously have “permission” to wear the most intense and vibrant shades that we discovered together. Korinne is already naturally drawn to a variety of grassy green and oceanic turquoise shades. I suggested she incorporate sparkling corals and canary yellow whenever possible to complement those cooler, deeper tones. And while cooler blacks and whites remain an option for neutrals, I encouraged her to find clean chocolate browns, sharp navies, and ivory creams which pair more beautifully with the sunnier, warmer Bright Winter shades.

I gave her a style nickname to work with: “Pacific Northwest Kennedy,” to capture the combination of subtle elegance with a rugged, windswept edge. Korinne looks beautiful in soft, unbroken silhouettes with horizontal and symmetrical patterns. She should strive for a perfect balance of structure and softness in all her garments, combining natural and synthetic fabrics which feel moderate in weight and density. Fullness in skirts and pant legs, but not too much, suit her frame perfectly. Rounded, scoop, and soft square necklines echo the lines in her face to her great advantage. Smaller feminine touches like bows make perfect sense alongside masculine, nautical details and shapes like loafers or epaulets. Fabrics that look “meant to be” worn in, like canvas, linen, denim, merino wool, and Oxford cloth are ideal. On Korinne, a pair of worn-in jeans and a soft sweatshirt look breezy and glamorous, not messy. Shoes can be boots, loafers, deck shoes, sandals, or sneakers—she makes casual look elegant.

Jewelry should be unobtrusive and nostalgic—pragmatic objects like sporty watches or nostalgic items like charm bracelets or beaded necklaces work great and don’t look childish with her easy, elegant style.

Korinne was relieved to see that heavy eye makeup was not needed to make her gorgeous icy blue eyes pop. Instead, she could focus on bold lipstick in either a clean or blurred application, and highlight her eyes using small touches of mascara, liner, and pearly shadow.
