Kirsten’s Style Gallery

About Kirsten

Kirsten works for an international non-profit and enjoys a range of outdoorsy hobbies, including cycling and camping. She has a hybrid schedule, often working from home, and sometimes travels to attend professional conferences.

Kirsten’s Style Goals

Kirsten wants to look fresh, engaged, and elegant. Her love for the outdoors shows up in preferences for organic prints, nature motifs, and earthy fabrics. Her version of femininity skews earthy and womanly, rather than frilly and sweet. She loves color, especially by the face, and enjoys wearing low-key jewelry on a daily basis.

Kirsten’s Style needs

Kirsten needs comfort and ease from her wardrobe. She lives with a chronic illness, which sometimes leaves her low-energy and without the enthusiasm to put together complex outfits. Her wardrobe must be mix-and-matchable, with an emphasis on large blocks of color that make a statement without too much planning. She also needs to have professional pieces that are a step up from business casual, so that when she is in the office she looks put together and present.

My Styling suggestions

Although blue jeans are acceptable in Kirsten’s line of work, her preference for elegance and her True Winter palette make white or charcoal jeans an ideal staple piece. A generously cut trouser style is professional and comfortable, respecting Kirsten’s long body line and her love of relaxed silhouettes. Midi skirts and long trenchcoats in statement colors flatter her long legs and may be paired with more neutral pieces for easy styling.

For tops, we went with a combination of more polished and relaxed shapes, as either can be worn with a variety of bottoms. Necklines are angular with menswear influences, or a deep scoop shape, which echo Kirsten’s facial features and enhance facial harmony.

We prioritized comfort for shoes, as Kirsten is an athlete and an avid hiker who needs to keep her feet healthy and happy. Low-heeled mules with contrast stitching add a bit of interest, even rendered in a neutral color. Although some offices permit open-toed shoes, mules are a more professional alternative to sandals. Sneakers are an excellent opportunity for a pop of color and contrast—rendered in colored leather, they look clean and polished.

Kirsten’s jewelry and other accessories like watches are delicate and organic, and should pair easily with dressy, night-out outfits as well as relaxed daytime ones. True Winters sparkle when they wear plenty of silver by the face, so I encouraged Kirsten to select several pairs of earrings, as well as a range of pendants in her new best metal. Botanical motifs as well as layered and stacked elements marry Kirsten’s earthiness with her streamlined femininity.
